The 1938 phantom corsair

- I'm actually not a fan of the entire car, but let's put it like that: this is just amazing, in term of surfacing, in term of attitude, in term of craziness or just plain freedom of shape, i guess in 1938 codes , security and just the notion of what's cool was totally different.
Manufacturer Rust Heinz
Production 1938
Class Mid-size
Body style(s) 2-door coupé
Platform Cord 810
Engine(s) Lycoming (Cord) L-Head V-8 4.7L

Performer Ipad app from konkreetlabs

-Performer from Konkreet Labs lets you drag and skew the shapes to make music on your Ipad , notice that unlike most ipad application this one is for people with Real instruments , Aka musicians ..you have to actually have musical instruments for Performer to control (it connects to "anything that receives OSC or MIDI inputs," according to Konkreet)

Acupainture aka Bowa , body painting ,face painting and graffiti

- We've seen body painting before, I've seen graffiti on bodies too, i just discover and fell in love with this symbiosis that Acupainture aka Bowa is creating between paint and curves , those curves are natural and are feminines but the colorful and violent lines and proportions that Bowa put on those body somehow compliment and create a all new level of beauty.

Those images are full of contrast, they are eye catching but they are also deep and somehow tells story ,I can only imagine that those kind of canvas are not just like a white page or a concrete wall, those ephemeral art pieces are for me some kind of a co-creation, between the model and the painter.

He's experimenting with paint but also with image through the lens of his camera, playing with light , mood , black and white ...

He's been also lately experimenting the mix of bodypainting and lightgraff with
Hide (that we highlighted in the past here on the design llama for a video collaboration with Benjiro) .

check his facebook page for way more pix .

From his own words:
"Après plus d'une dizaine d'années dans la pratique du graffiti...Me
tournant désormais vers la plus éphémère des disciplines,le body
painting.
& je passe dès lors sur le plus beau des "supports" : la Femme.
Je n'ai aucunement la prétention d'être photographe,ni même maquilleur...
Je suis juste un agitateur visuel, qui recherche la symbiose & la mise
en valeurs du corps féminin par la peinture."
AcupAinture aka bOwa

-------------------------------
"after more than 10 years spent doing graffiti ,my main practice is now the most ephemeral one: Body painting.
My support is the most beautifully one, Women's body .
I'm not proclaiming myself a photographer or even a make up artist ..
I am just a visual agitator, that search the symbiosis and try to highlight the women's body through paint.

The beauty of a 125 years old Mercedes Benz

January 29, 1886, Karl Benz applied for a patent for his "vehicle with gas engine operation." Patent DRP 37435 for the Benz Patent Motor Car.
Seven months after Benz filed his patent for the automobile, Daimler with his master engineer Wilhelm Maybach attached his Daimler engine to a four-wheeled coach producing the first "horseless" carriage.

Emily Pilloton ,Studio H and the Teague academy

-Yesterday night was the official re-launch of the TEague academy in Seattle , it was held at the Seattle sculpture park , the designer invited was Emily Pilloton, an awesome architect that started with a project called project H then a year later launched studio H: A real-world experiment in design-based education.
To make it short : a really nice story story about two San francisco architects that decided to move to the poorest county in North Carolina and design a program to help public school kids build themselves a better futur by learning, ideation, welding, creation, critique, team work ...
A really fresh approach and a nice message for us "comfortable designers" . I especially loved her last message which sounded like " if you want to get inspired , copy or redo this program, take my hard drive, i'll give you everything about what i learn, i just don't know if i have what i take to repeat the experience somewhere else , i'm here to stay and you are welcome to follow the movement" brilliant.

Here are some visuals of the chicken coop projects she's just been finishing with her students.
Thanks Tad Toulis for bringing a real design super hero to remind us that design can actually do "real" good things :)

Here is a video of her TED talk
