While in Shanghai we attempted to see the 6th Shanghai Biennale. I say "attempted" because we arrived right as the museum was closing. That was a big disappointment. However, we did get to see the outdoor installations. The Halong Kellong piece was really interesting. Mixing the design language of Harley Davidson with that of the Chinese work tractor, this piece played with the intersection of the western & eastern worlds in the realm of blue collar adventure -- very unusual. Not only did they have the machines (2) on display, they also had the inside of the trailer on display. Inside -- a video that presumably ran during regular hours, pictures documenting the exhibition of the pieces, pink glowing light, white shag (unless I invented that in my imagination...)... The entire display - themed "hyper design" -- looked promising.

I believe that the woman in this photo is the designer of this outfit seen in Tianzifang, Shanghai. Does anyone recognize her or her work? The shop had a wedding dress by this same designer that I could not get a photo of. The wedding dress did not use the traditional language of pure white, lace, tulle, classic lines, etc....but...It still captured the romance, the mystery, the ceremony and so many of the magical qualities that women often look for in a wedding dress.
-" DCC Audi’s answer to the proposed vehicle mandate of 2015 would be to utilize a concept similar to the rapid prototyping method of manufacturing using advanced materials.
This method of building each vehicle would not only streamline the manufacturing process by integrating currently separate parts and processes, it would also allow an unprecedented level of flexibility and customization. This system would theoretically make expensive “tooling” a thing of the past." Very interesting and promising...
